It depends on your agreement. If you are credited with a share in the composition (melody or structure), then yes—you are entitled to royalties. If your role is purely technical (recording or mixing only), your earnings usually come from upfront fees unless otherwise agreed.
For producers
If you produce and own, or control, sound recordings that are used publicly or commercially in the UAE, EMRA helps ensure those recordings are used legally and generate fair returns
General Information
Producers can join EMRA when their recordings are broadcast, streamed, or played in public and commercial environments such as radio, television, digital platforms, venues, events, retail spaces, and hospitality settings.
Once you become a member, EMRA helps protect your authors’ rights, monitors the use of your works, and ensures that royalties generated from licensed use are collected and distributed fairly, in accordance with UAE Federal Decree Law No. 38 of 2021 and relevant international treaties.
